Piano Lesson Rates & Studio Policy
Each student is vastly different, so I take some time to get to know them- and I first figure out how they learn best, and help them to discover their own unique goals, and to discover which styles of music they love most.
We have a lot to learn:
-
Technique
-
How to use the body efficiently, safely and effectively
-
-
Music theory
-
How music is organized and why/how to think of music
-
-
Exercises
-
Build brain-hand coordination and control
-
-
Ear training
-
Understanding and articulating what you hear
-
-
Repertoire discovery
-
Composition (if the student is inclined in that way)
We are not in a rush, as this process takes time- the most important thing is that they gain a thorough understanding of the underlying fundamentals of music.

Getting Started
Your first lesson is a free trial — a no-pressure opportunity for us to meet and play. After that, you're welcome to have a few lessons at the standard per-lesson rate while you decide whether to enroll.
How the Year Works
When you're ready to enroll, here's how the program is structured:
-
Lessons follow a semester system, with performance opportunities at our Fall and Spring recitals.
-
34 lessons over the academic year (August–May).
-
Your lesson time is reserved for you each week and fixed for the full semester.
With 34 lessons spread across a roughly 43-week academic year, there are 9 flexible weeks off built in. These account for holidays, student absences (family vacations, scheduling conflicts), and teacher absences.
Students are always welcome to schedule additional lessons beyond the 34 included — extra lessons are simply billed at the per-lesson rate.
Practice Expectation
I recommend practicing at least 4 days per week — 5 or 6 is ideal. Consistent practice is the single biggest factor in a student's progress.
Location
My home-studio at
